Chicago firefighters battled a stubborn 3-11 Alarm fire in the vacant Gately Department Store at 11201 S. Michigan Avenue that began early in the morning. Here is the first of the submissions from several contributors. A brief cellphone video compilation from Steve Redick.
Palatine firefighters were called to the Hobby Lobby at 615 E Dundee Rd around noon on Friday (6/7/19) for a car into the building. Callers said the car was on fire and the driver was unable to get out. Police officers arrived first and used fire extinguishers in an effort to put out the fire. The car was removed from the building, the fire was extinguished, and the driver was transported to the hospital. Palatine Rural and Hoffman Estates units assisted at the scene.
A Code 3 for smoke in a house was dispatched to another location in Palatine within minutes of this call and units from Arlington Heights and Buffalo Grove were sent to investigate that incident as most Palatine units were at the Hobby Lobby.
