I believe the van is salvage 3, and I think at the time they ran out of Engine 22. If you look at Truck 22 you will notice two booster lines. That was a Mack with a Pirsch Main.

Just wondering – wasn’t Bob Kruse dad of Karen Kruse who wrote the book on Eng. 78?? BTW: anybody knows what type rig is on the 2nd pic from the bottom (the van). Looks like this may be one of the Salvage Squad rigs, never seen a clear shot of any of these at a fire before. Thanks for sharing these great photos!

In picture 6 is Mike Wernick Capt. of 78. Retired 10th Battalion Chief. In picture 10 is Wernick and Bob Kruse, FF on 78 at the time. Bob Kruse retired Captain of Engine 4. If memory serves me a number of guys were treated for smoke inhalation. Not many masks in those days.
