Tom, there were 2 main reasons for our (Glenview) switch from Internationals to the Freightliner. First was the money, about $10,000.00 less for the Freightliner and second was the motor, International attempted to meet the EPA requirements without using DEF ( diesel exhaust fluid). In short the International motors were terrible at best. We have a 2013 that has been a nightmare. The Freightliners have had the Cummins engines in them for at least the last 18 years and have been very reliable. International now has the Cummins as standard but still a $10,000.00 difference. Freightliner has taken a lot of market share from International in the last 5 years in the medium and heavy duty truck market.

I like the look of the Freightliner ambulances. Does anybody know of any factual reasons, not speculation, as to why we are seeing more and more Freightliners compared to Internationals lately? International used to rule that market. Maybe it’s just me and I’ve never paid really close attention, but that seems like a pretty big gap between the cab and the box

A42 runs as third due and is staffed by the T24/S24 crew.
Station 42 is the old Station 24. The majority of it is used by the police. It houses an engine only. Pre-recession when WFD had another nine members the plan was to build a new station in NW portion of Wheeling. I am unfamiliar with the status of that plan.

Nice looking Ambulance, Why does Station 24 have two Ambulances running out of it? There is a station 42.
