Evanston Fire Department news

Excerpts from the ChicagoTribune.com:

The Evanston Fire Department has promoted Glenn Vanek to division chief of training and special operations, fire officials announced at the City Council meeting Monday.

Vanek has worked in the fire service for 31 years, the last 23 in Evanston. He has served as captain since 2004.

Vanek earned his bachelor of science degree in fire science management from Southern Illinois University, and  attended the University of Illinois Fire Service Institute officer school.

Vanek serves as a team leader and department coordinator for the hazardous materials response team.

House fire in Lincolnshire, 4-23-17

Firefighters were called to 20530 Williams Avenue in Lincolnshire Sunday morning 4/23/17 for smoke in a house. Companies made quick work of an apparent attic fire. Mutual aid at the scene included Buffalo Grove, Long Grove, Prospect Heights, and Lake Zurich.

Fire Department license plate for Illinois departments

The Secretary of State will issue a fire department license plate to vehicles owned by a unit of local government. The numbering is standardized as MABAS Division Number then a hyphen/dash then up to four numbers locally designated. No letter allowed. Go to the SOS website for details
