Why was the trial of the former deputy chief brought up today ?
He was found to be innocent of all charges yesterday.
Please post a retraction.

Anne, if you have digital copies of the pics, just send them to the webmaster of this site and hopefully somebody here could be able to identify what you ask for. You can also try to contact the guys from the Fire Museum of Greater Chicago (hope the link will work): http://www.firemuseumofgreaterchicago.org/

Thank you for sharing these photos. I have some photos that I believe show firemen from Chicago Fire Dept Co. 5 in the early 1920s. However, I am not knowledgeable enough about the uniforms and fire engines during that time to be certain. I’m looking for feedback from others with expertise to help me to date these photos. I have a personal interest in understanding them because I believe my great-grandfather is in the photos. Any advice on where I could share these is appreciated.

I’d say the Foxes were chain driven.

Are those engines rear wheel drive belt driven?

Some of the CFD rigs from that era were a state-of-the-art stuff, not counting these pumpers there were also the sedan cab Mack pumpers from the same year, the cab over engine Mack Squads and the Pirsch and ALF metal aerials with closed cab tractors. Awesome photos anyway, especially the first shot and the Foxes, thanks for sharing this!

Those handsome PIRSCH pumpers were ahead of their time. I don’t know why they they took about 50 years to become standard.
