Yes Cicero is having Pierce build them a 100ft Medium duty, prepiped waterway at 11 feet on a Dash CF. Looking at a delivery date around September 2015. Also a new Pierce Dash PUC pumper is in the works that mirrors Eng-3

1330 was at the minimum level to be considered a tender and the main purpose was in the old fire district (believe Sunnycrest) which i believe is now a watered area. Division 24 has very very few areas where water is an issue with this being the only “tender” in the division. Div 27 and 19 have tenders that 24 can have quick access to if the need arrises which has been few and far between. The Harvey mess on Halsted a few years ago and the Markham illegal dump fire are the only two i can think of. A squad pumper had better use for Flossmoor than a “tender” that rarely would be used.

When did Flossmoor get rid of 1330? It’s the only “tender” in division 24 so I thought they would have hung onto it.

FF24/7, there are no open cab E-One towers in front line service. They are all spares which mean they are used on occasion while the company’s assigned rig is out for repairs.

The city wouldn’t buy those used trucks. That’s for sure.

If the city bought the eone tower why would it be a spare? I know for a fact at least one of the old open cab eone towers are a front line right now so that old cicero tower would be a pretty awesome front line tower instead of the old open cab ones

Are we talking about the same Seagrave RM, a 1992 model, according to this site?

Mike, I agree with you. Chicago could buy both the Evergreen Truck and the Cicero Tower. The EP truck could either be used as a permanent spare or even put into front line service with no modification’s. The Cicero tower could be used as a permanent spare also but I would leave the pump( unless fleet can pull it out and put a compartment in for no cost) and just not use it. At least it would give them a great spare rig and one that is most truly needed.

It may not even be possible to buy a tower ladder that fits under ALL viaducts in a given town. For example, Oak Park’s new tower is “low-profile” yet still doesn’t fit under every viaduct in town. As for street width, in Cicero there is parking on both sides on most side streets which make it difficult for any truck to fit down, so there may not have been a better option than what they had. The Seagrave is actually in great shape and will do the same if not better of a job than the tower ladder.

With all due respect, who was responsible for buying a truck that wouldn’t fit under viaducts or down streets?
If I were a tax payer there, I’d be pissed at the waste which was very avoidable.

Is the Evergreen Park aerial listed online with specs and a price?

Also some reasons why Cicero is selling their Tower Ladder is….
1. The Tower Ladder does not fit under all the viaducts in town and in our division.
2. Also, the tower ladder is too big of a truck to fit down the side streets of the north side of town.

Cicero’s New Truck will be a Pierce Dash CF PUC Duel Axel 100′ Medium Duty Ladder.

A couple of these trucks would sure make good CAFS research trucks. All you would need is a commercial air compressor. You wouldn’t even have to retrofit the compressor onto the truck, just tow it to the fire scene and connect the air line to the small foam injector pump and CAFS manifold to have full flow CAFS capable of flowing high volume CAFS through hand line and aerial pipes.

Chicago should look into buying evergreen’s truck and cicero’s tower.
Both those units could help the spare pool. The pump on the tower can be removed just like tower 5’s LaFrance was.

Did floss moor and Arlington Heights buy new engines?

Is the new Pierce Truck on order from Cicero, a Tower Ladder or Straight Aerial Ladder. If it is a Straight Aerial will it be a rear mounted model or a Tillered Aerial? Thanks
#21 by Josh on November 22, 2014 - 12:03 PM
Cicero has a new Pierce Truck on Order, Spare Truck 1 is in Tower Ladder 1’s place until the new truck arrives.
#22 by Grumpy grizzly on November 22, 2014 - 10:36 AM
If Cicero sells the tower it leaves them with a E-One TDA on the N side of the city and an ancient Seagrave RM they use as a spare. This makes no sense.

Why is the tower for sale? It’s not that old.
