Does anyone know where I can get this pic for my station? I work at RP & learned to drive on E-309 along with quite a few people here.

Rich and NJ. From what I recall. They get these units really cheap if not donated. Money is why they can’t afford to change anything on those. Like Keith said. Its Good to see a Former RP and NP rig together after seeing service here together.

Hey Karl! Thanks for posting that pic. It’s great to see those two neighboring workhorses retired together and continuing to serve. That old Mack has had a lot of fire history and I am proud and privileged to have worked on it before it was sold.

In some areas of Mexico, equipment like this would be a luxury. I have travelled to some of the less, shall we say, cosmopolitan areas of Mexico and in some places, the “firehouse” is nothing more than a tin roof covering the “apparatus”, an old Chevy Pick-up and old farm water truck. It’s a far cry (equipment wise) from even the smallest of small volunteer fire departments in the states, (and I by no means mean that as a slight against small town volunteer departments). And I’m not just talking remote, rural areas, I’m talking just outside of big cities like Monterrey.
Count your blessings, both those that serve and are served in the United States….

From what I can tell from other USA departments that have provided Mexico and other countries our former apparatus, there are no funds to re-letter the rigs. It appears they are happy to get anything that runs. There is a department in Chile that has several engines from Jacksonville Florida, which are still lettered for Jacksonville in addition to their own markings.
I find it pretty neat that two neighboring departments from our area ended up at the same firehouse in Mexico.

They might not have the funds to paint over it

I like how they change name or unit number.

They don’t even bother to paint over the original FD lettering….
