This from Larry Shapiro:
Park Ridge firefighters were called to 1205 Hoffman Avenue just after 7PM Wednesday evening (4/27/16) for a reported house fire. First arriving units reported heavy smoke from the attic of a single-family house and began an interior attack. The alarm was upgraded to a Code 4 for the working fire about 10 minutes later as flames vented through the roof. The fire was contained shortly thereafter and mutual aid companies that had not yet arrived were returned.
There were no injuries. Companies at the scene included Park Ridge Engines 35 & 36, Ambulances 35 & 36, Rescue & Battalion 36 plus 3500. Mutual aid units were Niles Ambulance and Tower 2, North Maine Engine and Battalion 1, Glenview Engine 7, Lincolnwood Ambulance 15, and Rosemont Truck 158.
The fire was declared to be under control as I arrived.

Took in this job Thursday. Heavy fire was venting from a frame, one-story addition on the back of the house. Exposure B was threatened for a few minutes prior to my arrival. I believe that quite a bit of opening up concealed areas was needed, probably due to the construction features of the addition. At any rate, well controlled quickly. Note that the tower ladder, first due, was utilized as an engine company and supplied all the attack lines.

Park Ridge firefighters responded to a house fire at 105 Elmore Street Thursday morning 2/18/16. RED Center received a call at 7:43 am reporting a fire with the possibility of two trapped occupants and dispatched the fire immediately as a Code 4 for the working fire. Within minutes a neighbor reported that the residents were out of the house. Park Ridge Battalion 35 arrived and reported heavy fire in the rear with an exposure on each side of the fire unit.
Companies made quick work of knocking down the fire and containing the flames. The residents were treated at the scene after inhaling smoke but both refused transport. Mutual aid to the scene included Rosemont, Niles, Des Plaines, Morton Grove, and the North Maine FPD.

This am … temp at zero … basement fire that went defensive for a few minutes. The only significance of these images is the Niles tower ladder that just went in service a day or so ago and this is the first worker it has been to.Steve

This from Steve Redick:
Took in this job early Saturday evening. Pretty good smoke condition as I was coming down the street, but it was over by the time I got in position. I believe this was an attic fire, and was knocked down with a big line from the outside. Two additional crosslays were used as well. Interesting to see the truck (a quint) operating as an engine, supplying all the lines. I am guessing they must have been first in, or maybe they were down an engine for some reason. I have always liked shots of this type of operation. Not really much to see from where I was but it sounds like this was a pretty good stop.Steve
