Lacon-Sparland Fire Protection District LODD

Excerpts from wglt.org:

A Marshall County firefighter has died after suffering severe burns in a fire at a family property over the weekend.

The Lacon-Sparland Fire Protection District says Chaise Mangold died from his injuries Thursday morning. He was receiving care in the burn unit at a Springfield hospital. Mangold’s father was also injured in the Saturday fire.

Mangold was a firefighter with the department for more than three years.

Nearly $25,000 has been raised on a GoFundMe for the family’s expenses. Funeral arrangements haven’t yet been announced.

Chaise’s Fight

Due to the tragic incident that happened on April 10, Chaise, as well as his dad, Pat are at the hospital in Springfield. Chaise is fighting every day for his life and his family needs your support, love and prayers. The family has asked to keep their story private but updates on Chaise will be made through Kirstyn Friday’s Facebook page.

Because of the outpouring of support and aid our community has shown, many have asked us to set up a page so that there is a way to keep supporting in every way possible.

We thank you for all the continued support, love and prayers. Chaise needs every single one of them.

*All the money will be put for medical costs and put into Lisa Mangold’s account*

South Holland Fire Department news (more)

Found on gofundme.com:

South Holland FD Firefighter Dylan CunninghamAs many of you may know Dylan Cunningham left this world yesterday during a dive training exercise. I think it’s only fitting to help raise some funds for his family, fiancé and his soon to be son, to help lessen the stress during this time. Many of us were honored to have had the privilege of knowing Dylan and having him be apart of our lives. Those who didn’t get the chance should know that he would have welcomed you with open arms. He was a genuine person who cared for every person he met and could put a smile on anyone’s face. Coworkers, friends, and family, let’s do what we do best and give back to the man who gave his all each and everyday. These funds will be given to Laura as a beneficiary and be used by them for whatever is needed. Here is the link for the Baby Registry as well .

A GoFundMe has been set up to help John’s family cover the cost of funeral expenses.

Ret. Lt. John Schultz passed away at Delnor Hospital on Sunday, December 1st, leaving behind three children (a 14 year old daughter and 10 year old twin boys). John was only 49 years old and had been battling illness for many years. John’s family needs your help. Not only are they grieving the loss of their loving father, but they now share the financial hardship of laying John to rest.

John served as a Lieutenant for the Downers Grove Fire Department and was an active member with the Downers Grove Professional Firefighters Local 3234 from 2000-2013. John also served on the Union Executive Board, negotiations committee and was an Honor Guard member for the AFFI. During his time with Downers Grove, John was very accomplished in EMS and served as both the Designated Infection Control Offer and EMS Coordinator. He was passionate about the job and truly did everything he could to make the department better than when he started.

Prior to coming to Downers Grove, John worked for the Carol Stream Fire Protection District from 1994-2000, and served for 24 years with the Geneva Fire Department, which is where he started his fire service career. John was also an Instructor with the Downers Grove Fire Academy, Romeoville Fire Academy and previously taught at the College of DuPage.
