The Mobile Ventilation Unit that has been assigned to MABAS Division 1 was deployed Tuesday for the first time. Housed in Wheeling, MVU-1 was special called to assist the Schaumburg Fire Department at 1365 Mitchell Boulevard. A gas pipe inside a large commercial warehouse was broken and a significant amount of gas filled the building before the flow could be stopped. Schaumburg companies had overhead doors and skylight vents open and requested the MVU to assist in clearing the remaining gas from the building.
