From Glenview Prof. Firefighters Assoc. IAFF Local 4186 on Facebook:
Station 13 has been slated for closure! Due to a recent village board decision, your fire department is scheduled to reduce service through the elimination of an engine company.
This will primarily affect the East Side, but all of Glenview, the Glenbrook Fire Protection District, and the Village of Golf will be impacted in many ways.
Bradley Fire Department news
Jan 31
Excerpts from the daily-journal.com:
Three Kankakee County engineering and construction companies are seeking the project manager role for the proposed construction of a second fire station in Bradley. The selection of a project manager will likely take place within the next 30 days. The project manager will oversee the project on behalf of the village, from start to finish.
The village is looking to construct a second fire station at 1690 Newtowne Drive, the location which was at one time the home of the Bradley-Bourbonnais Chamber of Commerce office. Expected additions to the site include a 3,500-square-foot garage to house a fire engine and an ambulance so that the department can better serve the north and northeast portions of the village. Renovations are also planned to the 4,200-square-foot former chamber property, which the village has owned for about 20 years, to make it compatible for fire and public safety needs.
The village’s only fire station is located at the Bradley Village Hall complex along West Broadway Street. A recent study showed the village’s fire and ambulance response times to the north and northeast sections of Bradley are far behind industry standards.
Village leadership hopes to have the anticipated $800,000-plus project completed by late summer to early fall.

Excerpts from the Kenoshanews.com:
A city fire station that houses the Kenosha Fire Department’s training center and administration will be reconstructed beginning next year, according to a proposed $9.1 million capital improvement plan for the building.
Under the plan, Station 4, at 4810 60th St., would be located to the west of its current site, and the current building that houses fire administration headquarters, would be torn down to make way the new building. Six years ago, the city spent about $650,000 adding on to the existing Station 4 building to accommodate the fire department’s administration, which had to be moved out of the municipal building at 625 52nd St. due to accessibility issues.
Station 4, which was built in 1964, will be a brand new building. It will be similar in design to the city’s newest building, Station 1, at 2210 52nd St. The $7 million station project opened in August 2019, consolidating stations 3 and 5, formerly at 2121 Roosevelt Road and 2125 Washington Road, respectively.Engineering for the construction site has already begun and the fire department expects to begin rebuilding the station next year, with $5 million set aside in the capital improvement plan for 2021. Once completed, the administration will be moved to city hall or another Fire Department location.
However, the overall plan is to have fire administration permanently located in the future city hall. As a part of a future plan, city hall is proposed to be built at the northeast corner of 56th Street and Sheridan Road. The city council has yet to approve formal plans for its development.

Excerpts from Chicago.cbslocal.com:
The opening of the Chicago Fire Department’s new $30 million firehouse in the West Pullman is being delayed because of two COVID outbreaks at the construction site. It will be the second largest fire station in the city, sometime after the new year.
Two Chicago firefighters in the CFD have died and 425 have tested positive for the coronavirus since the pandemic began. About 30 firefighters are now quarantined.
