Josh Boyajian followed a header this afternoon in the city and came upon companies working a Still & Box at 1851 Lawndale. Josh reports that Engine 38 and Truck 48 were the still alarm companies followed in by Engine 109 and Truck 32. On arrival, Truck 38 took sector 1 while Engine 38 lead out down the block. Squad 1 had the American LaFrance spare piece (X-Engine 23).
Josh sent in a few shots from the scene.

The City of Chicago has no new orders or contracts for any new tower ladders, engines, ambulances, chief vehicles, NOTHING, NONE, ZERO. The city purchase plan everyone is talking about is just a wish list for the department. The specs for the new squads are still being drawn up and that’s only within the fire department. They would still have to go to the department of Fleet and the department of Procurement.

The spare Squad is a nice vehicle, but maybe its time to start thinking about purchasing new squads?
