So the reason for the city going away from diesel motors is our ancillary vehicles is because we have had serious issues with the diesel motors EPA requirements and regenerating systems. This is why we went to a gas motor in the ambulance fleet and are now switching to a gas motor in the ancillary fleet. The motors do not get full out run time enough to regenerate properly long runs with extended idle time is not good for the new required motors of today. I would have had a few more warning lights myself, not sure why less but its a badly needed rig.

Harry this apparatus runs city wide and idles on scene for a long time. Dive ops are long runs. You’re not saving anything with a gas motor. Diesels have more torque to move the heavy weight. Plus the city has used gas ambulances already so I’m sure they already know the benefits and non benefits of gas vs. diesel motors.

mike just curious what do u think I am wrong with because the new diesels suck I only like them because if u are keeping a vehicle as long as Chicago diesel is the way to go but if they were replacing this in 5-7 years gas would have worked fine

Mabas I see what you’re talking about with the front and front sides of the crew area not having warning lights or scene lights on the sides. Harry what is wrong with this being diesel.

MABAS21, No fleet will not add additional lighting to the rig. as you see it is how it will be. Radios/MDT are currently being installed by the radio shops

crabbymilton it is diesel which makes no sense for the service life but for the mechanics it will be a nightmare

The Chicago column in the May / June 2019 edition of FAJ mentioned that seven rear mounts aerials and one tower ladder had been ordered but I don’t remember ever seeing anything about that order on this website.
