tim I know when I was at crystal lake public works a few years ago I was told by one of the mechanics that they love the 6.0 and too many others to name that have had great luck while a lot have hated the 6.0 too I personally love the 5.9 24v cummins and the 7.3 ford from the 90s

I used to work on those motors. They (the 6.0) were prone to oil pump failure and then later EGR cooler failure. Then Ford gave us new programming for the computers and that didn’t work all that well either. I don’t know anyone that “loved” them.
If they did the EGR delete then they were a little better.

actually tim it is very possible to get over 500 000 miles out of the 6.0 diesel and 1 million plus from the 7.3 because a lot of depts. still have the 6.0 and love them while a lot of depts. don’t love them but either way munical mostly gets rid of them at 300 000 fdny had some 6.0 with half million plus and they said they have been great

It’s a light duty diesel engine. You’ll never get an additional 500,000 miles out of it, especially the junk 6.0. They’re not built for that. A heavy duty diesel….half a million easy. A Ford (oops my bad Navistar)7.3? You might do pretty well with. A great bullet proof engine.

I know most 6.0 diesel were not the best but some of them have been great and if this is the good one then u can easily get another half of million out of this motor

With Condell hospital in town, a moderate call volume and their maint program this is probbably in good shape with only 60k mi on a 12 year old Ambo … if bids dont soar too far from $8k. Be great for a contractor.
