75Seagrave it appears they do match after the protective coating is removed. Look at the red squads most recent pics and you will see the chevrons are the same color. We previously voiced this concern…

It will be a shame hearing new Sq7 the few times it responds to the city proper without a Federal Q. Not bad looking rigs overall but they should correct the front bumper chevrons on the box rig to match the snorkel. Details, details…. Anyone care to guess how often the snorkel 7a will be put to work?

The ORD Squad vehicles, as well as most other O’Hare and Midway ARFF and ARFF-supporting vehicles (i.e., responding onto the airfield) are painted yellow per FAA requirements for vehicles purchased all or in part with Federal Airport Improvement Program (AIP) funds. I believe most of the CFD equipment at ORD and MDW (except the ambulances, ORD Hazmat Unit and Engine 127) were purchased with the help of AIP bucks.
If you’re really interested in the particulars (and by-golly who isn’t!!!!) and don’t have a date or are looking for a cure for your insomnia, Google the following:

Are they planning on keeping the mini-pumper and just renaming it from Squad 7A, or is that unit being retired completely?
