Is this at their new cab manufacturing in Tennessee?

I will first go and say I’m not a firefighter and have no experience operating any apparatus. I know a couple of people who work in Frankfort and they are happy with how they work. They have had problems with other companies before but Pierce (and some others) have done them well. They are also rarely OOS.

Hairy,
No comment on Hanover park.
Bloomingdale tower was spec’d wrong air bag suspension was a bad choice
Squad 7 was completely rebuilt, but since your brought up the city. How many trucks have aerials that are rusted out? Or frames rusted out? They have had several ladders replaced at Pierce years ago because they rusted out.
Niles has had issues with tower 2, the old tiller truck 2 was OOS more then in service, the spare truck they bought was problematic, the newer engines they have had suspension issues.
Can’t speak on Waukesha either.

Hairy –
What department are you with where you have firsthand experience operating or maintaining fire apparatus?
Are you involved with the fleet maintenance or apparatus committee?

Mike
Well Hanover pk has had better luck with pierce over eone
Look Bloomingdale has that 2005 quantum and yet there newer eone tower is what oos
Chicago ohare has has a 2000 pierce sqd
Niles has no issues with pierce
Waukesha WI has an all pierce fleet a friend that works there told me the pierces have held up better than the past eones

Harry you know nothing about fire apparatus. Until the early 2000’s pierce was actually a very good builder and built solid apparatus. Because of that their reputation grew as did their client list. That lead to quality issues and because they saw $$$$ instead of sticking with what they did their quality went down: rusted out torque boxes, frames, main ladders, bad rear steer issues, the list goes on. Also many parts are now proprietary so you just can’t go buy them from anywhere. Are there good people building Pierce apparatus? Yes, but the overall product is overpriced junk.
I hope Franklin parks fouts engine performs well, it most likely will because fouts builds decent stuff because they’re not rushing to get as many builds as they can.

Mike c read where u wrote demonstrate American craftsmanship what does that mean also if u work on fire rigs isn’t it job security for u if there are more pierce or kmes
I know more than I think for instance Franklin pk bought a demo spartan fouts brother engine for a little over a half of million and soon may get a demo eone unless they choose to get another fouts brother which between the 2 will save fp tax payers over 1 million the eone is 1.2 million for one rig and the fouts brothers they can be delivered in 4 months

Hairy – If you actually knew about fire apparatus, you would see Pierce is highly overrated and their quality is subpar at best.

Which engine will this replace, Engine 3 or 4? I believe Engine 4 is the older one.

I always appreciate pictures like this that demonstrate American craftmanship. In a day where so much is automated or produced overseas, it’s great to see highly skilled workers in America.
