Excerpts from cbsnews.com:
Chicago firefighters were called for a fire at 8:15 p.m. Thursday at 1355 W. 16th St. in Pilsen and found heavy fire at the two-and-a-half-story, multi-family frame house.
The building was vacant and being remodeled. Firefighters launched a blitz attack – directing two hose lines on the house while protecting nearby homes. The fire spread to the attics of occupied, wood-frame structures with a brick veneer on each side.
The alarm was raised to a 2-11 for additional equipment and manpower bringing 32 pieces of fire equipment and just short of 100 firefighters.
The house where the fire started ended up collapsing. There were no reports of injuries in the fire. The cause remained unknown late Wednesday.

Glad you asked, Eugene. Truck 48 just recently received its new E-One rig, a much needed replacement for their aging 2002 Pierce truck. There is one more E-One ladder truck which hasn’t been delivered yet as of now, but which truck company it will be assigned to remains to be seen.
