Wheeling and Prospect Heights firefighters were sent to 375 Plum Creek Drive on Tuesday morning after a Wheeling Police Department Community Service Officer spotted heavy smoke from a fourth floor apartment. On arrival, flames and smoke were pushing out of a fourth floor balcony in the center of the building with extension to the fifth floor balcony. Wheeling Truck 24 hit it with an elevated master stream and Prospect Heights Engine 39 stretched a 2 1/2″ line to hit it from the base of the building before crews got into place for an interior attack.
This is the second fire this year in the same building. In March, they had fire in an end unit on the same floor.

Thank you, Cossman for the clarification. I am wrong. I appreciate the welcoming, professional, not hostile invite to the firehouse. Maybe I’ll stop by and see ya sometime.

Jeff, get a life! The 3 firefighters on the rig probably get up and go to work every day with more enthusiasm than you ever will. They are there because they want to, not because they have to. Does Prospect Heights have their issues, yes, but so does almost every fire department. Politics and financial issues are a struggle and out of the firefighters control, but they still show up and do their jobs professionally. Remember that no one person or organization is perfect. Wheeling and Prospect Heights did a phenomenal job on containing and extinguishing the fire and no one was injured. The mutual aid companies did a great job as well. Jeff, take your personal vendettas and lack of knowledge and understanding to the toilet!

I’m sure Marino is a fan who never got on anywhere. So he thinks he knows what he’s talking about. There are great guys/girls and not so great at every department. That’s life.

Jeff, Check this out Bro:
Engine 39: The crew consisted of 3 members with nearly 70 years in the fire service.
Acting Officer: 33 years in the fire service. Retired from a large fire department in the area and now works FT in PH (He also has been with PH for over 30+ years). Driver and FF work for large fire departments FT in the area.
Where do you work Jeff Marino. Stop by St.9 so we can talk in person.

Good to hear P Heights was able to make it out the door. Probably not the best quality guys on that rig but atleast they had 2 guys to drive it to the scene!

Good stop by Wheeling. Gotta use that exterior attack to knock it down. Didn’t get to the attic or other units or anything it looks like.
