The Martha Weathered fire. I was a senior at Quigley North HS on Chestnut. I got a late bus that day and got off at Walton, just as 98 was pulling up. Was a very light haze in the hall as I passed. About an hour later, one of the priests came in, apologizing for being late because he had been watching the fire. We asked what fire, and that was the end of that class as we all went to watch. I remember the engines lined up down Michigan to Chicago Ave at one point. Have to dig into the archives. I have a b&w I took a couple days later of the icicle encrusted “roonz”
