It will be interesting to see how the E-One works out for them. They have had several different manufacturers Pierce, Ferrara, Smeal, Pierce now E-One. What are the issues the Smeal tower has been having?

The contingencies cover more things like change orders during the build process. We need to redesign this compartment or move this do hicky from the front to the back because XYZ. I’m sure some of it will also cover new tools/equipment that will also go on the truck.

Mike if you look at other apparatus bids and announcements which have been posted on here, a great many have shown information along the lines of ” Better buy it now, because we’re jacking the price up $50,000, $100,000, $200,000 in the next 6 months, year, etc” For all the blame these manufacturers are placing on supply chain issues (among other things,) I think it’s just become a matter of greed. They took way more orders than they had capacity for to make the shareholders rich, and common sense and fire departments be damned.

Wow. The Smeal that was supposed to be so much better than the Pierce only lasted 10 years? Shocking….It’s been a Lemon since day 1
