You are correct Ray. Good natured ribbing is fine but sometimes we can go too far. No obligation to respond to posts that we don’t agree with either the content or posting style. In other words, let’s be constructive. I’ve seen it happen to other discussion groups where they had to shut them down because a few people just couldn’t set aside petty differences. Yes, I think we can do better than that too.

Everyone gaining up on Harry isn’t doing this board any good. If you don’t care for what he has to say, don’t respond or read his comments. A lot of us come here to see what’s new and read comments about what’s going on, not watch grown men bully and attack a single person who they don’t agree or care for. I think everyone here can do better!

I know Harrry. You always state and re state public works stuff.
#4 by harry on August 2, 2022 - 5:43 PM
tim i was just stating that these pw depts have or have had these 6.0 diesels andhave or had great luck with them
#5 by Tim on August 2, 2022 - 5:23 PM
Hary did this website change to chicagoareapublicworks.com?
#6 by harry on August 2, 2022 - 3:45 PM
tim thats correct most 6.0 diesels were junk but i can name some that were good crystal lke public had a few that were great itasca pw still has 1 almost 20 yo and runs great elmhurst pw still has a 2005 f450 with plow and this is to name a few and nyc has a lot of them still and they run great but yes most are junk

I like the red ladder a lot. Not common around here and looks really good. I hope the tower serves Plainfield for a long time.
#8 by Tim on August 2, 2022 - 6:44 AM
Harrry do you make these stories up? Nobody in their right mind is going to pull out a 6.0 diesel (and buy one for $6,000) as majority of them were complete junk. Many of us on this blog , including myself, saw first hand the ambos with the 6.0 were nothing but problematic.
You can’t compare corrosion in Florida to outright rot in Chicago.
#9 by harry on August 1, 2022 - 10:50 PM
tim thats true about the road salt but vehicles still rust in fl not as bad and not as quick as here because one of pbg ford trucks the frame was so rusted the truck had to be junked and it was 15 years old with less than 30 000 miles on it it was a 6.0 diesel they took the motor out and sold it separate for 6000 it was a strong good running motor

Also for the record, Harry, this is *not* a public board. This is a very obviously privately run/managed website. They’re under no obligation to entertain/accept any posts/interactions they do not want.
#11 by Tim on August 1, 2022 - 5:04 PM
Harrry, One reason why you can’t compare Florida rigs to Chicago area rigs…………ROAD SALT.

The color of the truck doesn’t keep you safe. Proper blocking, closing the street etc keep you safe. Not sure when you were last on a call of any type. But, the color of the paint doesn’t keep people from using their cell phone and not paying attention. Doesn’t prevent a drink driver from hitting the rig.
#13 by harry on August 1, 2022 - 2:41 PM
local guy its a public board and if you dont like green fire trucks that keep the crews safe thats sad that u dont have a heart i will talk about palm beach gardens all i want if you dont like all well have a nice day
#14 by E. C. Darroll on August 1, 2022 - 2:07 PM
Just for the record…12,000 calls is not “a lot” by any stretch of the imagination. There are individual companies, not departments Harry, that hit 5-7,000 or more annually.
#15 by Localguy on August 1, 2022 - 8:18 AM
NOBODY CARES ABOUT PALM BEACH GARDENS. STOP!!!!!
#16 by crabbymilton on August 1, 2022 - 5:45 AM
Almost perfect contrast of color on this one. All set for Christmas with the candy cane look.

Harry if you click on the link and read it says June 12th and should be delivered shortly. There are other apparatus in the pictures and it is clearly at the Pierce factory.

Harry:
I am of the opinion that not many other members of this page care how they do it in Palm Beach Gardens. This is Chicagoland; things are very different here. Maybe leasing works in Florida & for the fire departments down there. You might be right, but you also might be wrong.
#19 by Martin on July 31, 2022 - 9:45 PM
Just prove it. If you aren’t lying then you don’t have much to lose.
#20 by harry on July 31, 2022 - 9:11 PM
cmk420 well i will tell u why i would do this or that because take palm beach gardes for example they run a lot of calls 12000 plus a year so they get new rigs all the time this year they are getting a new seagrave ladder an ihc air light truck and a used 2007 seagrave engine tanker then 2023 2 seagrave engines 3 ihc ambulances and in 2024 a new seagrave engine ihc ambulance and a giant fire station and why because they know how to manage money because they lease all city vehicles with an option to buy
now how many towns or cities not chicago aurora elgin have this much new vehicles coming in that amount of time no one because in 2017 palm beach gardens leased 70 ford explorers for the police
but yes if it comes to pump manpower how to fight a fire i dont know that stuff but vehicles i will argue because i know i am right heck most of florida also leases fire equipment orlando already has 2017 in reserve jacksonville already has 2019 ambulances in reserve but it is because they know how to do things lease not buy

Harry, if you have the pictures, submit them to the admin with time/date stamp and prove us all wrong…
#22 by Danny on July 31, 2022 - 6:26 PM
Harry one of the members from Plainfield posted photos at the factory on the last visit the 2nd week of June. So did it get delivered unfinished and then go back to the plant to get the final touches?
#23 by Gerald on July 31, 2022 - 5:21 PM
Harry, you literally commented on photos of the truck on the Pierce factory floor in JUNE!
#24 by harry on July 31, 2022 - 4:51 PM
martin well like i said above i have seen it have a picture so what more do i have to prove and u can believe it or not it does not matter what u think
#25 by harry on July 31, 2022 - 4:49 PM
rich so where is your proof
#26 by Tim Da Toolman on July 31, 2022 - 4:37 PM
DH… I like your initials.. similar to one of my friends. But this is a great pic. Excellent job Tobalt. Harry.. mistakes happen no need to get upset
#27 by Martin on July 31, 2022 - 4:33 PM
Prove it Harry
#28 by harry on July 31, 2022 - 3:59 PM
dh well believe what u want but i know i saw it that is all that matters
#29 by The DH on July 31, 2022 - 3:44 PM
Hairy, stop lying, it was still at the factory at the end of May and in June. Just look at the posts. Oh and since we proved you wrong, I think it’s time that you bless us with your silence.
#30 by harry on July 31, 2022 - 3:21 PM
dh i never said it was going in service the end of may i said they would have it thenwhich they did because i got the picture then and over all its nice but not worth a 44 mile drive for me to see a white fire truck
#31 by Mike L on July 31, 2022 - 2:26 PM
Sharp looking. Red ladder is a nice touch, too. Anyone have any info on the status of the Lockport Seagrave tower ladder? Last I heard was that it was no good and being sent back for a refund.
#32 by The DH on July 31, 2022 - 12:52 PM
Hey Harry, what happened? I thought it was in service at the end of May? Sharp looking tower.
