Hey! I recently purchased this truck. I’m trying to find out more history of the rig. I tried to find the video Mike was talking about but didn’t have much luck. If you could point me in the direction of where I can find more info it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

The 800 didn’t come out until 1956 but was discontinued just 2 years later when the 900 would premire.

Crabby and Mike this is a 1952 American LaFrance 800 Series. This along with a dozen others were sold thru-out the south suburbs between 1948 to 1953.

No mistaking a 700. Obviously the lights under the headlights were added later but not a bad blend. Wonder if it has the original v-12 since many of them were replaced with different gasoline and diesel engines with automatic transmissions over the years.

I just looked at Illinois fire trucks and Beyond according to them this is a
1948 American Lafrance so this truck was in service before the dedication
of the new firehouse in 1952…….

There is a homemade video on YouTube about Riverdale showing among other things the dedication of their new firehouse at that time 1952 and this engine was in the video. They had just taken delivery of the truck……..
