Firefighters from Northbrook, Wheeling, Prospect Heights, Glenview, and Deerfield responded to a house fire at 4085 Evergreen Lane in an unincorporated area off of Sanders Road by the I294 tollway. The call came in shortly after midnight (4/8/22) reporting smoke inside the residence and walls that were hot after the resident used the fireplace. Two occupants when outside with firefighters arrived but responding companies were notified by RED Center that a handicapped individual was unable to self evacuate. Northbrook Engine 10 reported smoke showing on arrival and the crew from Ambulance 10 got a wheelchair-bound resident out of the house.
There was visible fire reported on the exterior of the house which was extinguished by firefighters from Prospect Heights Engine 39. There are no hydrants in this sub division and a supply line was stretched from a hydrant at the entrance off of Sanders Road to Northbrook Squad 11, which then pumped in-line to Engine 10.

Station 12 has ambulance 12, Tower 12 and rescue 12. Rescue 12 is a light rescue on an international chassis. I believe it is manned as staffing permits. They still have the Chevy pick up with the work body that ran out of there it is now a utility vehicle.

Speaking of the Northbrook FD , I know that several years before Engine 11 was converted into Squad/Pumper 11 there had been an SUV running out of Station 12 which was at least sometimes being used as a first responder for EMS runs instead of Tower 12. It was supposed to be an experiment and they might have had to have enough men on duty for them to use it as it was basically used as an ambulance chaser. So the question is are they still using it or is the first responder out of Station 12 still the Tower Ladder. I also recall that when the Pierce Heavy Rescue Squad was in service they would sometimes used that rig as a first responder on EMS runs. Is the Pierce Squad still around and if it where is and it and do they use it as Spare or Reserve unit?

How old is Tower 12? They were suppose to get a new Tower 12 in 2019 or 2020. Love the photo of Engine 10.
