This beautiful engine was totaled in an accident in 2003. From Crestwood Fire Department website: “December 14 2003, at 5:30 in the morning Engine 2303 responded to its last run. As it pulled out of the fire station with its lights and siren activated, a driver under the influence of drugs and alcohol going over 80 miles per hour without his lights on struck the engine in front of the fire station. The collision tore the front axle completely off of the engine and injured three firefighters. 2303 did its last duty by protecting the firefighters riding on it. These firefighters got out of 2303 and rendered first aid to the motorist saving his life.”
