Great pictures. Not a big fan of the IMPEL/VELOCITY models but that one really looks great with that carefully planned out color. Nice touch with that red light in the nose.

Downers Engine was an emergency purchase and they needed it quick so this Pierce was the closest to what Downers already had ie. paint scheme, cab layout, etc. It originally was a Pierce demo that had slight spec changes because it was going to go to Cicero but that didn’t happen. The front bumper came with the front suction however there’s also pre-piped trash line in the middle of the bumper covered by a diamond plate door. If they were to put 5″ on the bumper they would have to move it to get to the trash line so they opted to put the 5″ in the side tray.

Is OakBrook Terrace Primary Number 48 or 49?

The new Engine 103 was put at the north side station because it is the only rig north of the tracks and has a 750 tank for car fires on the tollway. Old 103 was moved to 105 and old 105 the 2014 Pierce was moved to Station 102 as a reserve, The 2007 Pierce is a second reserve ( the U-Boat)

No pre-connected front suction on the Downers Grove engine? What’s the point of paying for a front suction then? Anybody know, just go in service waiting for hose?

I’m guessing 103 got the newer rig because they are the busiest engine company and the can put the Ferrara at 105 where it’s a little slower.

No more Ferrara back to Pierce……..Red “88” is somewhat different also it looks like black wheels either will be or how the norm……….
