Bill C. You have to remember that some people would complain about anything even good hearted people trying to give comfort. If the folks fighting the fire don’t like what’s they provide on the mobile canteen, they can call for a pizza or other take food out to be delivered to the scene or have one of their friends or relatives show up with something.

Fred M , The Salvation Army usually responds to major incidents in the city , but it is Usually a much Slower response. Note: Every time that I Personally have asked the unit operator only being inquisitive not critiquing, They were out in Elk Grove Village & had to drive in to where the unit (that did respond) is located, which explains the SEEMINGLY standard 2 hour push out.

Denny Saam, I’m certain that your “FRIGIN DONUTS” have NOT BEEN provided for multiple decades, but I’d bet you didn’t turn down any “FRIGIN DONUTS” when they were available . Just HOW LONG AGO was that for you? As, It was POUND CAKE (Specifically Sara Lee Pound Cake Slices) on the Sally Canteens back in the mid to late 80’s & early 90’s, until some City Dietician said they weren’t healthy enough for the CFD, so Poof – Crunchy Granola bars. Furthermore, The 5-11 Club Does NOT have a “wago”, they have canteens that provide service to more fire & police personnel now than previously by adding service to MABAS Division 22 and the S.S.E.R.T SWAT team. So, HOW ABOUT DON’T RAG on the 5-11 Club ?

I’m not sure about the Chicago area, but the Salvation Army in the Wausau, WI area responds to all major fires and disasters and they pretty much cover the entire Central and North Central area of Wisconsin. Usually covered by only 1 or 2 people

to Fred M: A BAD FIRE IN CHICAGO:
1.) Flames show on all sides of the structure, and close exposures.
2.) A sudden drop in Hydrant Pressure, system wide.
3.) The 511 wago is out of FRIGIN DONUTS.

Just to clarify, these units respond to the communities affected by disasters and offer support to the community. The 5-11 Club units respond to fires & incidents to support the Police and Fire personnel at the scene while it is still active. Somewhat of a cliff notes version, but correct??
