Buffalo Grove police and firefighters were called to 134 Golfview Terrace Tuesday afternoon (1/5/21) for a reported house fire. Police officers were first on the scene and said there were flames through the roof. Buffalo Grove Battalion 4 upgraded the alarm to a Code 4 working fire based on the police report. The header was visible from a distance of at least a mile away. Tower Ladder 25 was the first fire company on the scene followed by Arlington Heights Engine 4. The first attack line was taken to the rear and quickly darkened the fire that was burning on the outside of the house. A second line went inside.
As additional companies arrived, two more hand lines were pulled and the balance of the fire was extinguished.
Units at the scene included Buffalo Grove Tower 25, Engine 27, Ambulance 25, Battalion 4, 408, 401, MobileCom, and Squad 25. Out of town companies included Arlington Heights Engine 4, Arlington Heights Battalion 1, Rolling Meadows Quint 15, Palatine Engine 82, Prospect Heights Engine 9, Long Grove Tanker 55, Long Grove Battalion 55, a Barrington ambulance and chief, Libertyville Squad 462, plus ambulances from Lake Forest and Nunda Rural FPD.

The new engine will become E26, the current E-one engine and the Ferrara will then be reserves. Likely the ’16 E-One will go to 27 to be the reserve rig there.
Harry I’m quite sure the Admin has pictures of the KME engine on the web site. We’ve had it since 2007.

Thank you Andy, What will that new engine replace? E-27? At which point
The Ferrara will become reserve? Is the current Ferrara tower going to be kept as a reserve or be sold?

25 can act as the engine in their first due, depending on the timing of the arrival of vehicles. Often the lines are pulled off of that since it’s in the front of the building. AHFD E4 actually deployed the first line off the tower on this fire. If 25 pulls a line one of the engines will assume the role as the truck company as determined by the incident commander.
E27 runs in place of Q27 when the quint is out of service. The E-One quint is currently OOS for some repairs. They have been running in the engine for a while since 25 was using the quint while the Ferrara tower was being repaired after an accident.
We currently still have both KMEs. The quint will be leaving shortly since the new E-One tower ladder has been delivered. The KME engine is the reserve at 26. We are going to begin the process of specing the replacement for that engine this year. Hoping to get the new one delivered in 2022.

I am so confused as too how Buffalo grove runs their companies? I thought
Quint 27 was first due out of station 27? Is engine 27 staffed when there is enough man power or is it a reserve? Also do they have either of the kme’s anymore? What reserve units do they have? Thank you in advance

Is the LED on the front of the Buffalo Grove Tower purple or is it just how the picture turned out? I can’t say I’ve seen purple on a fire truck but could be something for the future?

Does Tower 25 act as an engine in their first due? If so who is the truck company then?
