Are the new trucks carrying the same compliment of ground ladders as the old trucks. If they are it has to be a tight fit in the ladder box. If anybody has pics of the ladder storage i would love to see how they fit them all in.

Mike L is correct that I was talking about have a standard manual ladder pipe. Since the new trucks have large compartments on both sides, I thought there may be a portable ladder pipe in one. At one time all of Chicago’s aerial ladders had one that would be manually affixed to the top rung of the aerial ladder when needed.
FFPMTOM the ladder pipe you are talking about is a pre-pipped waterway. The portable ladder pipes are still very common in New York City and Los Angeles.

Unfortunately the new Truck 58, in service barely a month, was damaged when rear ended in front of quarters

What’s with engine 1? A regular truck? Or still at1?

There was word that the new trucks were not coming with the standard manual ladder pipe and 3″ hose. I believe that is what Bill meant. Aerial Tower 8 and the former AT 1 are the only trucks with prepiped waterways.

Bill, it’s pretty clear from that photo it does not have a ladder pipe

It’s a good thing that Truck 29 is getting a new rig as in 2018 they were the 2nd busiest truck company in the city in terms of runs. Truck 49 was the busiest truck. Truck 29 is also an ALS truck while Truck 49 isn’t. While I don’t have the run numbers for 2019, it is probably safe to say that Truck 29 is still among the top 5 or 10 busiest trucks in the city.
I still wonder whether or not the new trucks have ladder pipes?
