A fire caused $135,000 in damages and left a home uninhabitable on the 10700 block of Santa Fe Trail in Huntley.
A neighbor called to report the fire about 10:42 a.m. Sunday. There was heavy fire coming from the rear of the two-story house when
first respondersfirefighters arrived. They rescued a dog, a bird, and a gecko.Crews extinguished the fire in the rear of the home then entered to discover the flames had moved to the attic. The fire likely started in the sun room and was under control in about 20 minutes. The cause is under investigation but isn’t considered suspicious.
Woodstock, McHenry Township, Algonquin, and Hampshire fire departments assisted on-scene. Carpentersville, Fox River Grove, Genoa-Kingston, and South Elgin provided fire station coverage.
