Excerpts from the nwherald.com:
A three-alarm fire Wednesday afternoon fully engulfed a townhouse in the 400 block of Windham Cove in Crystal Lake causing about $700,000 in damage. The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 1:05 p.m. The townhome and two attached units on either side also were threatened by the fire.
A second alarm was requested and the alarm was later upgraded to a third alarm for additional personnel because of hot and humid weather conditions. Fire crews worked to minimize extension into the two adjoining townhome units, while extinguishing the main body of fire.
Additional fire departments and support agencies from Algonquin-Lake in the Hills, Barrington/Countryside, Carpentersville, Cary, Fox River Grove, Harvard, Huntley, Lake Zurich, Marengo, McHenry County Emergency Management Agency, McHenry, Nunda Rural, The Salvation Army, Spring Grove, Wauconda, West Dundee, Woodstock, and Wonder Lake assisted during the incident.
