This from Martin Nowak:
Just have a question that maybe someone could answer. I recently stopped by the place in Crestwood where former apparatus are sold. I seen what looks like a plaque/sign holder. Anyone know anything about this??? Who it was assigned to?Front photo is mine. Rear shot is sellers photo. Thank you in advance!

I think it’s FDC018 auctioned off on 12/05/18. Here is the auction link (closed now) If you go to the closed auction site here, https://www.publicsurplus.com/sms/chicago,il/list/past?orgid=20549 set the date to before 12/5/18 and enter this action number 2218799 you can still pull up the pics.

It’s a 2004. Originally c-059 and reassigned G-591. It was 2-8-3c. The red lenses were removed prior to sale.

It’s an old CFD ambulance. If you got the FD number off of it, yes. On the front fender or rear door there should be some ghost lettering that would show “FDC” followed by 3 numbers. “C” is the designation for the ambulances and the 3 numbers are the sequence they are at in numbering. For example, if the FD number was “FDC095”, that would mean it’s an FD vehicle, C for ambulance and the 1,095th ambulance the city owned after the FD numbers started being assigned by the old shops decades ago. You could then go back and see what ambulance was assigned C095. The original assignment number may still be ghosted on the rear door(s) or sides as well. The place holders are put on all of the spares now so they can put a plate with the rig number instead of medical tape on it when the spare is being used front line.

Based on the brackets for the slide out markings I think it’s a 2004 F-350 Medicmaster. Assigned to the training division it’s whole career as 2-8-3c

Whats the rig in the first picture? Is that a Seagrave?

This is a retired Chicago ambulance and looks to be that of a special events rig. which would be used for festivals, marathon etc.
