The 800 Series offered integrated compartments ahead and behind the rear wheel. The main difference is that the compartment door overlapped the body and was not a flush door. It was done as a cost savings and this feature did not make it to the 900. The cab, hose bed and body was also mounted higher on the chassis than a 700 Series. Finally, there was also a flair behind the jump seats/doghouse as the body was wider than the cab and the running boards got wider towards the back of the pump house.

Most 800’s were built with the pump panel on the left side.

I thought the 700 series were the old style bodies with compartments added as boxes to the running boards, and the 800 series were the modern style fire bodies with integrated compartmentation…..

The 800’s were produced in far fewer numbers and for a much shorter time than the 700 Series. This was a dud for ALF and sped up the change to the 900 Series. The 800 was only available as a pumper or some special apparatus. All aerials were continued to be built on 700 Series until the 900 came out.
