The E-450 ambulance chassis have been powered by the 6.8-liter V-10 engine for several years now. It would be fair to say that they are holding up much better than the often plagued 6.0-liter diesel. The E-series was never offered with a diesel engine produced exclusively by Ford. It also never received the short-lived 6.4-liter diesel. For the record, GM has also discontinued a diesel engine offering in their G-series Cutaway chassis, citing lack of demand. All 2017 models will be gas-powered (6.0-liter V8). RAM also offers a gas-powered HEMI in their cab/chassis offerings suitable for ambulance use, along with the Cummins 6.7-liter diesel option. Ironically, all F-series chassis MUST be equipped with the 6.7-liter diesel engine.

Are all the E series gas motors now? How are they holding up compared to diesels and what are the price differences.
