Almost all Oshkosh Striker compartment doors are all grey too, so there is nothing wrong with them being like that. If there was the Strikers wouldn’t have them. Worst thing about painting roll doors is if it’s not done right the paint will chip or flake off and a good percentage of the time in heavy use departments the paint starts to come off over time and looks terrible. Painting something that flexes and bends all the time is not good. All of our department trucks have the standard grey roll up doors because of this.

I am surprised the gray compartment doors are not an ARFF violation. What could be worse at an airport than the color gray?
It will be interesting to see how much the suburban chiefs, those who get the squad on a working fire and/or extra alarm, will use the snorkel, if at all.
Does anyone know if they will keep the current Squad 7A for parking lot fires and the drop off/pick up ramps?

I still don’t get why the city fathers felt the need to upgrade Squad 7 with the new Rosenbauer equipment. Didn’t they just rehab the Pierce. I agree with the other guys who said that they should have added a new Squad company on the south side to help Squad 5. If they don’t update the Squad boundaries Squad 7 will be fairly useless and no help to the rest of the city. Politics? I guess. John

First I believe Rosenbauer would only take contract if there were four sets. City tried to get one of the burbs to join in but no dice. Second, the current Squad 7 was in bad shape and indeed was almost scrapped before they ultimately decided on the complete rebuild. If these hadn’t taken so long for many reasons they might not have opted for the rebuild.

That joystick is a standard joystick for every man-lift in the world today. scissor lift boom lift. That is not an innovation.

I agree that the mono color looks better as well. However I think Rosenbauer did the best they could duplicating the snorkel and did the best they could with the paint job. We will just have to wait and see how they work out.

I think if they’d put the black down to the bottom of the A and B pillars with below that red, the result would have looked much better.
Regardless let’s hope they work well.

I wonder if putting the lower boom control on top of the joystick is intended as an innovation, or if Rosenbauer couldn’t figure out how to duplicate the Snorkel control.

I think this mono colour looks better than the ones with the black over red. They did a very poor job on the lines of the black with the windshield and grill. They could have made the city squad boom rigs look much better imo
