More from Josh Boyajian:
Cicero had a job this afternoon (2/16/16) @ 5332 w 23rd st. Engine 2 arrived to find smoke showing from the upper floor of a 2.5 sty ordinary with an addition on the roof. Engine 2 had two lines off, while Truck 2 made the roof.

I would definitely agree with them being one of the busiest outside of Chicago. Cicero runs around 10,000 calls a year. Berwyn last year ran about 7,000 as well. Yesterday Berwyn’s last run I heard was 16-1004

Cicero, Berwyn, and Oak Park are all fairly busy for their size. Awhile back we were told MABAS Division 11 (7 depts.) was the smallest geographically, but had the highest combined population. In Oak Park we have a population of around 53,000 in 4.5 square miles and do 6200-6400 calls annually from (3) firehouses

Older numbers but from 2011-2013 Cicero was the state’s 17th busiest department in terms of “incidents reported”, whatever that means.

Sure sounds like @firemang12345 is pretty proud of the CFD fleet. With good reason, they have upgraded quite a bit lately. I wonder if he works for Cicero or maybe works for Pierce, or just maybe he worked in a neighboring department at one time where they played cards quite a bit at the kitchen table.

I lived in Cicero for 35 years, would not consider them to be one of the busiest departments in the state, IMHO.

I believe they are in the top ten according to the state fire marshal’s website.

Boy did Cicero get their moneys worth with that 1992 Seagrave ladder truck. What a work horse, I heard that truck is still as strong as an ox. Are they going to use it still as a reserve piece once the new Pierce 2016 PUC 100 ft rear mount one set of outrigger gorgeous designed apparatus that is going in service on Monday. Cicero is one hell of a busy suburban dept, probably in the state. I hear rumor they might be getting another Pierce PUC engine. Cicero really knows how to update their fleet and it seems someone knows what there doing over there. I hope to still that Seagrave beast on the street. Seagrave outta use it to show how well the rig stands up to the beast that Cicero put it thru in 24 years of heavy use and probably tons of fires. Good job Cicero
