This from Eric Haak:
Here are some more images from the 2-11 in Chicago on Saturday (11/15) morning. There was a fire in this same building back on February 15, 1999. The circumstances were very similar to this one. The 1999 fire was on a Sunday morning and started around 0700 hrs. Like this one, the fire was on the third floor of the building and had multiple people who jumped to escape. 15 were transported back then. Thankfully only 2 people were transported from this incident (that I was aware of). If you look in the first image, you will see a gentleman waiting patiently at his window to be rescued. His apartment was right next to the fire apartment but the woman who jumped was three windows to the south of the fire apartment. There was no smoke coming from her apartment at all. People tried to calm her down but she panicked and jumped 3 floors. Luckily, she landed on the muddy ground below and not on concrete. She was injured but conscious.

I spend an inordinate amount of time in my car Bill. I have several strategic locations around the city where I will sit and just wait. Some people watch hours and hours of TV every weekend. Well I spend hours and hours waiting for something to happen. Sometimes I get lucky but most of the time it’s a bust. Yesterday I was at Ogden and California when this came in so I was lucky.

Eric those shots are really good shots as they cover alot of up close detail of not only the fire but the up close detail of operations and individual rescues.
Once again your timing was perfect as you apparently arrived on the scene during the earlier stages as you were able to catch the some the rescues , the evacuation and the laddering of the building , in progress. I take it that you were relatively close the scene?
Do you llve nearby such in the near western suburbs such as Oak Park, Forest Park, CIcero or Berwyn , where you can get on to the Eisenhower and if the traffic isn’t heavy you can make good time on the Expressway? as this fire wasn’t far from the Expressway or were you just on the street and not the far from the scene?
