This from Eric Franzyshen
Hello,I follow your website (chicagoareafire.com) on a daily basis and I saw the post about the rig that was purchased from Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus for the show Chicago Fire. While browsing through instagram about a week ago, I came accross the attached pic with what appears to be the same truck, just on it side and marked up for Truck 81. Let me know if you agree or not. Thanks,Eric

CFD is not lending them front line spares

Isn’t there better spares they could use, like the 2000 e-one rigs,
Sone of those are still in service As front line Riggs ie truck 24 and 30

That would mean buying brand new rigs and spending a mill or 1.5 million….thats not happening. At least with the rigs they are using they fit what CFD runs with, as spares at least

Always a possibility, it would be more realistic.
I wish they would upgrade the truck an engine

The tv show probably bought one and outfitted it. They bought their own squad remember

Did anyone notice, in last night’s episode, that the Battalion Chief got a “new” vehicle? One of the newer Police Interceptors. How did that happen?

There are five different Trucks used in the scene. The two 90s segraves used for the driving shots
Two lettered up 70s segraves that have been modified two look duel cab with 90e grills that they beat up and used for the outside shots of the crash
And the rig shown above for the interior shots of 81 as the segraves that they rolled are single cab and they needed a duke cab on its side for the shots.
Some very good fx switching between the 90s and the 70s in the scene if you go through frame by frame.

This rig is used for the interior shots of 81 while on the side as the old 70 segraves are single cab with an ad on. If you go through the crash frame by frame there is some very good special fx between the 90s segraves driving and then the 70s being all beat up.
Ps I love this site.

I also notices EPFD Snorkel Squad 3 on the last episode

That was the Evergreen SS3 and also Engine 51 on the show definitely has Luverne on the front grill.

Hey all–while not related to this post, but related to the topic. Did anyone else catch the Evergreen Park Snorkel 3 in tonight’s season finale?? The rig is the exact same as it pictured on this site; however, they must of either CGI’d “Chicago Fire Department” onto the basket portion or there was some type of special decal made for it. Very interesting.

In Chicago Fire season 3 episode 3 (Just Drive the Truck) that aired October 7th, what company’s former rigs were they that crashed into each other?

Saw the preview/teaser for next week’s episode, last night, and now we know how the truck is on its side, but why?? I am very curious to see how they do it with the two trucks (81 & 66) being involved. They are calling it an “event”.

The show may have its technical flaws, but it does have Shay and Dawson.

I agree Milton, I don’t watch it either (despite my previous comment indicating otherwise)

I watched that program once and didn’t care much for it. I grew up watching EMERGENCY.(Still comes on METV) But for whatever reason, the producers these days like to cater to the lowest common denominator sleaze demographic and paint fire fighters in a bad light.

that is the same truck that was purchased a tandem axle I hope this isn’t one that had electrical problems but if its only being used in movie shots it wont make any difference!

Looks like the same rig, and it looks like the standard story line were someone cutsoff/hits a fire truck that tv shows like to do.
