This from Drew Gresik:
Hey guys,I was cruising around today and passed by Engine 80’s quarters at 127th and S Doty. Truck 62 has a spare, which happens to be the Seagrave used on “Chicago Fire.” It’s still marked “Truck 81”. Thought I would share it with everyone since its not an everyday sight. I also passed by Crestwood’s quarters and saw that they have a new (or relatively new) Ford Expedition B/C SUV. Just took a quick shot of it in its bay. Thanks! From,Drew Gresik

On the Bishop Ford Tuesday making a delivery to 13800 Cottage Grove, saw the rig. At first it did not make an impression but then I realize highest truck co is 62 (63 at O-hare) I do not watch Chicago Fire which might explain my ignorance.

I went past Engine 80 Tuesday night around 7:00pm. Ladder 62 had it’s rig back.

John H the spare truck is not a movie prop its a in service spare rig that when not detailed to the show is put back in active service in the spare pool.

Dennis there is a new “used” ambulance in crestwood, it is a mini mod box from advance ambulance company, it hasn’t been in the station because it was getting painted and graphics and some other stuff done to it but i drove past last week it was parked in the far right bay on cicero

Since we joke so much about the sad state of Chicago’s equipment (especially the trucks/tower ladders–and ambulances, too), I guess it’s par for the course to be using a ‘movie prop’. The only option left is to use cardboard cutouts for apparatus…the City could probably fabricate some pretty impressive rigs for a very reasonable cost at the local Kinko’s…

Kevin, I have been to the station, no ” new ” ambulance. I think the thing about Elite giving them an ambulance was incorrect. FYI rumor is that Crestwood will start transporting next year.

I think crestwood has a new “used” ambulance too
