Chris Ranck submitted information about the frequencies for the new CFD digital radio system.
The frequencies are UHF digital, so a digital scanner is needed. (I have a Radio Shack PRO 106, which needs to be set as a P25 digital talkgroup).
The frequencies are:
I read that one bank of the scanner should only have digital frequencies. There are several analog UHF frequencies.
There are some other general city frequencies which can be found on either wwwradioreference.com or wwwchichagocarma.com. I hope this helps. |

Just checked out RadioReference.com website and their freq database is still outdated. They do NOT list the CFD system properly. If you check the Chicago forum under the Illinois section you will see folks who are correctly updating there. Even their South Suburban PD database is NOT updated.
I would check with the CARMA folks and see if they’re more correctly reporting the changes.
Yes, you will need a digital scanner. Uniden / GRE / Rat Shack.

Grumpy Grizzly, No you won’t be able to monitor digital (P25) frequencies with your radio. The Uniden B796D can monitor the new freqs and those used radios should only run around $200. The latest, greatest Uniden BC996XT will allow you to also program in the NAC codes which is the equivalent of PL for digital freqs. The 996XT will also allow you to monitor the Starcom radio system which is where DuPage Co is migrating their fire channels to. I can write up a more comprehensive “state of fire radio” report for this blog, but in the meantime the best source for frequency information is from the Chicago Area Radio Monitoring Association (CARMA) and their correct website is http://www.carmachicago.com and their frequency database is http://www.carmachicago.com/profiles

You are going to have to be a bit more specific there. Do year mean Bearcat 250?
