A blaze started around 1:55 a.m. in the 1600 block of West Waverly Court in Arlington Heights, Fire Chief Ken Koeppen told reporters on the scene and one man died while two others were taken to local hospitals.
The fire was contained to the home’s hallway and was brought under control in about 10 minutes.
Tuesday morning,
first respondersfirefighters wheeled out a stretcher that appeared to hold the body of the victim. The brown split-level house in a quiet cul-de-sac on the north side of the village was bordered by yellow police tape.
