3-Alarm fire in Oak Park, 2-10-17 (more)

This from Steve Redick:

Early morning basement fire in a large occupied apartment building in Oak Park. Fire spread up to all floors and required a lot of tough inside work. Not a lot to see from my vantage point. Also there was a very brief mayday that was quickly secured. Conditions were temps in the teens.

Fire in a Lincolnshire hotel, 10-31-16

This from Larry Shapiro:

Lincolnshire-Riverwoods companies were sent to the Springhill Suites hotel at 300 Marriott Drive around 10:30PM Monday (10/31/16) for a fire alarm. After receiving calls from the premises reporting smoke and flames seen in the pool area, the alarm was upgraded to a Code 3 with an additional engine.

On arrival, the hotel guests were evacuating and a heavy smoke condition was observed in the room with the swimming pool. The alarm was then upgraded to a Code 4 for the working fire.

Due to heavy smoke conditions, it took several minutes for firefighters to find the origin of the fire and extinguish it. After searching, venting, and checking air quality on all the floors, guests were allowed back into their rooms.

In addition to Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Engines 52, 53, Truck 51, Ambulances 51 and 52, and Battalion 51, mutual and auto-aid companies included Buffalo Grove Engine 27, Long Grove Squad 55, Deerfield-Bannockburn Squad 19, Lake Forest Truck 421, Wheeling Truck 24, Buffalo Grove Battalion 4, Deerfield 20, and Lake Zurich Ambulance 4.

2-11 Alarm fire in Chicago, 12-2-15 (more)

This from Steve Redick:

2-11 Alarm fire at 1525 W 18th St. the Nuevo Leon restaurant. This was a locally famous mexican eatery. The restaurant occupied and connected the first floor of two similar 3 1/2-story ordinary buildings, the rear had a one-story addition as well as some kind of storage area or garage. Fire had full possession of most of one building and spread into all floors of the exposure to the west, which as I mentioned was connected to the fire building. Two towers and Squad 1 operated here. Notice how many wires and cables Squad 1 had to deal with in the rear, and I daresay a full-size Snorkel or aerial would not have been able to get into this tight spot. Not many good shots to get … low hanging smoke, poor access, and misty rain ruled to day. All the images and the video can be seen here on my site:

2-Alarm fire in Norridge, 1-7-15 (more)

This from Steve Redick and additional images from Dan Shevlin:
About 0500, Tuesday, January 7, in the town of Norridge. Sub zero temps … severe cold. Fire was in a very large home, almost mansion size. I assume it used modern lightweight construction techniques, truss assemblies and the like. The fire was on a small intersection only accessible from 2 directions. Heavy fire was encountered and I heard they had some severe problems getting water … presumably from frozen hydrants.
Several persons were reported trapped or missing on FD arrival, and searches were attempted but I believe all occupants were accounted for early in the operation. The fire gained tremendous headway and consumed the entire building, which was torn down later in the day. A couple of handlines and the Leyden aerial pipe operated, and eventually they called for a tanker from Prospect Heights to feed the Schiller Park tower. I had already left by the time this occurred. Enclosed are a selection from the many images I took.
