A few pictures from the Still and Box at 11661 S. Western Ave Friday afternoon. These pictures were taken by my daughter Heather Garcia who lives near the fire.

I was able to take in the Still & Box at 11661 S Western Ave. but I only was able to use my phone for pictures. It appeared to have begun in the garage that’s attached to the house in the back then extended into the house on both floors. Squad 5 was out of service so a extra truck was called for.

Took in this Still and Box at around 6am this Saturday. Engine Co. 115 was the 1st engine on scene and found heavy smoke inside of an unoccupied, one-sty, 150×100 grocery store. Upon entry the fire was found to be in the loading dock area with no structural involvement. Here is a Link to my site for more photos: http://312firephotos.smugmug.com/Chicago-Fire-Department-Fires/2015/Still-Box-10700-S-Halsted-St-4Dennis

This from Eric Haak:
Just before 1300 hrs Saturday, a small but powerful thunderstorm cell passed over the southside of Chicago bringing with it torrential rain. Witnesses said that there was a 30-second blast of wind which brought down a large tree limb on powerlines in the rear of a large home on Longwood Drive in the Beverly neighborhood. The fire appeared to have started at the base of the exterior wall and traveled up into the attic. The fire was brought under control in less than 15 minutes but I thought I would submit some images of these companies for those who may not get down to this end of the city very often.
