Rusty – it is a 750 lb dry, 500 lb wet rating…the midmount Ascendant and the other Pierce TL’s are 1000 lb dry, 500 wet. The basket is smaller. The biggest disadvantage is the master stream placement, under and behind the bucket.

I wonder what the tip load is on this interesting piece of apparatus? To put it all on a single axle you have to give up something Im sure. This has to be light duty everything. Light Duty Engine, Light Duty Ladder. Can any of the Fire fans explain these single axle Towers?
Thanks in advance

Hahahaha, true story.

After 35 years it was time to leave the circus. The FNGs don’t even know what a philips head screwdriver is

The monitor is at the tip of the ladder under the basket. You can only go down or side to side with this setup. Store front blitz is just what we call it. Highly technical term. Not something you’ll find in a red book. Lol. Saying you’ve been on for years I assume you know what a red book is. The FNGs have no idea.

I can’t even see the monitor. Localguy thanks for the explanation on a storefront blitz. With many years on a tower ladder, I thought blitz was football term 🙂

With where the monitor is, under the basket. You can’t put the basket down and direct your stream up. And we don’t need to be in the Bronx to do a storefront blitz. Strip malls, taxpayers, commerical buildings. There are a lot of scenarios that you could do a storefront blitz with and not be in NY.

There are 2 ways to build these trucks
– Max out the axles or build everything with lightweight components weight of which is good.
How does Harry know that this “should serve them well”?

Localguy why won’t this allow for a storefront blitz? Not that it matters this isn’t the Bronx.

Looks good. I don’t know how they operate. One thing I love about our mid-mount is the ability to do a storefront blitz. I know you can do this with a rear mount also, even some sticks. But we don’t even have to extend the ladder to practically put the basket on the ground. This setup won’t allow for a store front blitz. I agree with the comments about the basket. Pierce is selling the crap out of these and the other acendent aerials.

New truck (looks nice to the residents and shoppers) vs staffing enhancements (that comprise the core of public safety)- very ‘interesting’ policy from a risk management-based perspective…

Well said Mike L. Brookfield is ordering a clone, I heard. Bummer.

Why single rear axle not tandem? What’s wrong with the present truck 94?

Michael M, it’s dog crap and tactically impotent. As many on this site have commented, the basket is a glorified ComEd bucket with little use beyond a viewing platform for spraying water in a vent hole.

Not a bad looking tower. I don’t know who at Pierce thought it would be a good idea to put the ladder pipe under the platform. A 110 ft aerial is not a bad idea, placing the waterway where they did, not the most strategic.

should serve them well
