David, No names will be given out, but let’s just say that there was an individual in the FD side who may have been in a position to push 2FM to keep the black roofs instead of saving the 3500$ per vehicle the same person responsible for the blue lights and he is no longer with the department.

Rich S.: who was the guy responsible for the red roofs?? I mean I never knew that a sole person can decide whether the CFD vehicles will go in all-red or the traditional colors. I always thought that there are more people in charge of the apparatus specifications etc. so things like this won’t happen.

I love watching all the E-One’s come into Chicago after all those Pierce rigs fell apart within a short time. 🙂

If they haven’t started the 137 footer it’ll be another 365 days.

No more all red vehicles, that guy is gone, we are back to the traditional black over red on everything. Yes we do have a old ambulance as a spare and it’s better than nothing but it’s not very practical or user friendly. I’m sure the current rig will get a bit of work done to it and be an ok spare.

There is only one land based dive van in the city of Chicago and the current vehicle has been in service since 2003 and it’s beat up and needs to be replaced.

Anyone know the age or condition of the existing 687? How many DIve Units are currently in operation? Is this really needed?
