One of the nicest classic CFD houses is old Engine 80 in the Pullman area at 108th and Cottage Grove. The house is in desperate need of repair and I fear is in really rough shape on the inside. From the pictures it looks like some kind of preservation work was done on the roof. I used the drone to try and get some interesting views. The watch tower is a one-of-a-kind structure and I would love to know if it’s still safe to ascend … hard to tell from the outside. Here are some stills from an aerial perspective.

Depending on the interior and structural condition, it would be nice to convert it to a private residence.

Great photography Steve. It’s amazing how Engine 80’s old house is still standing. It must have landmark status. Even though Engine 80’s current station was opened in 1964, their old house was taken out of service on August 26, 1957. Engine 80 was first moved to Engine 46 and Truck 17’s house. Then when they opened Engine 81’s new annex on June 27th 1961, Engine 80 was relocated there. Truck 61 was put in service on the same day. Engine 80’s current house didn’t open until July 9, 1964. Engine 53 from the old Stockyards moved in with Engine 80 at their new quarters. Truck 62 was also put in service on that day.
So that landmark station was closed as a firehouse seven years before Engine 80’s new station was opened.

That is impressive and good work.
Drones really can help in getting pics from a unique perspective.
Hehe I would imagine that some old geezer reading this…
Why in my day, we used to hire helicopters for that.
