What has typically occurred in recent history (past five or so years) is that when CFD companies are due to a suburb on a MABAS alarm, a BC, and in some cases a BC and DDC have accompanied the response to provide for interoperable communication between the CFD and suburban companies. I am not sure of the details but I have been told that the BCs and DDCs have different radios with a different channel configuration.

I stand corrected – the newer cards actually do list CFD on the 4th and some 5th alarms for Oak Park. The companies however are not specified, and would most likely be picked by the Office, and may not necessarily be the closet geographically to OP’s boundaries.

Thanks for the info, guys. Appreciate it. I bet one of the complicating factors is E96’s location. It’s so far west…which is why it’d be great for Oak Park…but if they’re out on a run, that area is a bit stranded for an engine until 117 can make the trip over. That’s why T29 is ALS and not the engine.

There are no CFD companies due on Oak Park’s box cards.

Probably not, though a 3-11 or 4-11 may have a chicago truck, engine or chief on it.

Any idea if E96/T29 were due to it? They’re just down Lake St. and would have been MUCH closer than a lot (if not ALL) of the other mutual aid.
