They had to shut down due to no funding. Between mount prospect and elk grove annexing properties, they couldn’t sustain operations. MP journal has lots of articles on it including they are liquidating all assets. They were run by a private (I can’t remember who) and had lots of staffing issues. The area will be covered by Des plaines, mount prospect and elk grove.

Most of their district has been annexed to Elk Grove Village for a Data center. EGV FD will cover that. There is one small section of homes that the trustees live in who have been fighting this annexation of Unincorporated Cook County. The remaining part of the district will be covered by Mt Prospect. The whole department has been on life support for decades. It was a matter of time. And No the station is not a health hazard is not the reason .

How big of an area are we talking about that they cover? I looked up the address of their station and it has them in Arlington Heights.
Could Arlington Heights pick up their calls? It is unfortunate they could not get something like Plymo Vent just like most other departments.
I understand why they have to shut down, if I lived in their district, I would be very worried.

They do run 4 ambos. But a64 is a jump company with R63. They started doing this when their extremely intelligent, fire-experienced, totally not company man fire department head Anderson (I will not call him chief, he hasn’t earned that title) decided to cut TW63 and E63 and then make the squad, rescue, 4th ambulance mess. No idea how they will cover the township because they can’t even staff their own town. Their call volume is at an all time high and they are constantly using mutual aide. Can’t see them being able to go help an whole extra community. Good thing department head Anderson is “doing more with less” and saving the city money by having one less fireman per shift. Way to go buddy.

Sad to see them close. I worked at a nursing facility that had a 911 and Ambulance 11 came in Mutual aid.
If I had to guess, maybe Mt. Prospect and or Des Plaines will pick up their area, who knows.
Does Des Plaines run 4 Ambulances ? on a regular basis now?

I wonder if they apparatus will stay yellow

They had to close down due to their building being a hazard. It gave a bunch of their guys cancer.

Who did they merge with? Mount Prospect or Elk Grove Village?
What is happening to their equipment, staff & the station?
I did my state FAE practical certifications there many years ago & applied there several times also.
