Interesting that they decided to go with a raised roof cab this time. I guess that is what the new Chief wants.

The 330hp L9 still has decent torque when paired with the Allison 3000 transmission. It’ll still move okay and not much different from a 450hp L9. I’m a big block fan but hard to dish out the extra $50 or 60k.

This Engine will be the new Engine 13 for the new fire house being built up north

And to build of off my last statement, it depends on how it’s geared too. I’ve driven 500HP dogs and 250HP rigs that were race cars.

Since emissions and fan chew up about 50HP, 330 is gonna be a dog. Most depts. aren’t getting anything smaller than 425HP, but to each his own.

After personally driving the engines with these 330HP engine I can tell you they do not feel underpowered. AFD purchases engines almost yearly. They know what they are getting.

I agree Tim. If you’re gonna get the L9, I wouldn’t go smaller than the 450. Personally I’d get the X12 450. But to each their own.

The L9 will be fine. Interesting that Aurora’s new HR100 has a big block and this engine has a medium block.

Moe I don’t think much has changed on their spec. They have been getting top mount pumps for a while now.

330HP? A bit under powered.

Aurora does have a newly promoted Chief and Deputy Chief who are both from within. Fire Service Inc also shows that AFD had ordered a twin to the current Truck 2 along with a new dive squad similar to Chicago’s 6-8-7.

Wow. A little radical departure for Aurora engine design. Raised roof, top mount pump, all roll-up doors. Must be a new sheriff in town. Wheel base is almost 40″ longer than a traditional AFD E-One pumper. Hope they didn’t change the color scheme.
