The former Co. 2 quarters at 98th and Washtenaw was opened in the 1960’s and replaced an earlier firehouse on the same site. This was originally the Beverly Vista VFD prior to 1946 when EP annexed the area.
The station doors are very narrow and while they could accommodate the old Pirschs, the later rigs did not fit. The mentioned light wagon barely fit in through the doors.
It continues to serve the public as the village’s food pantry. And, by the way, the area can still be reached by the current station due to how the railroads cross the village.
Our village takes pride in their services and continues to invest in public safety with PD, FD, and public. It is a well run village and we have been our own community since 1893.
Finally, I would suggest listening to Div 21 as all of the departments are extremely busy and these “toys” are frequently on the street or at the local ERs.
I suspect the oldest ambulance will be sold when the new one is delivered.

Thanks for the info Cmk420 It is an old station which I believe was built sometime between the late 50s and early 60s……

I live, pretty much, right around the corner from that old station. To me, it looks like it’s going to take a lot of work to get that building ready to be a fire station again because I believe it is used by another city entity right now.
The problem with Merrionette Park is they only run up to four people a day & they only have one paramedic on at any given time.

I need someone to tell me why epfd doesn’t use the old station on 98th street. Some months back I heard the manor complaining about the rail traffic tying all the crossings up. They could run an engine and ambulance out of there and staff it with more off duty Chicago firefighters.I know Meriette park is down the street but still I think that would work

Evergreen gets their money from having a decently strong tax base and being 100% part-time, so they have no pensions (chief?), insurance (maybe the chief and secretary?), etc. to pay…just salary. Buying all the new toys is a lot easier that way…

What’s garbage about the E series? With all the diesel emissions and issues that go with them there is no more savings with them. They get very poor fuel mileage. The diesels get about what the gas does mileage wise now. The gas is cheaper overall and the fuel is cheaper.

Pretty impressive how they constantly update their fleet. They have a lot of new apparatus. Curious where they get all the money. With that being said I don’t know why anyone goes with the E chassis. Total garbage diesel or non-diesel

Is there anything old at evergreen park??????

Why?
it seems like they are wasting their money recently they replaced a 2014 engine so it could be a permanent spare and now they’re adding a 4th ambulance to a fleet with the oldest being a 2016. It just seems like they are replacing rigs that don’t need to be replaced.
