From the Coal City Fire Protection District Facebook page:
Proud to announce the final inspection of Engine 3112 is complete. Soon the engine will be serving the district for the next 20+ years as a combination Rescue Pumper handling many different responses throughout the district.

big moe i dont think there are any height restrictions because the older station when i was there back in 2014 had the old 93 and 00 or so pierce raised roof engines and the same fire house has the big rescue and also the tower all of which should be taller than the seagrave i will be happy to see her

I really like the orange and am glad they stuck with it. I do wonder why no raised roof over the jump seat area? Are there height limits in the station? Romeoville and Lockport also ordered flat roof Seagrave engines. Having worked in both types, I found the raised roof rigs much more user friendly and comfortable to work in.

No doubt, Bulldog! I’d like to think this engine will have a 20+ year lifespan. Really a beautiful engine! Seagrave has the best cab and chassis on the market.

My department made a factory visit awhile back to see if Seagrave would be a good fit for us. I’m very impressed with their quality, and assembly procedures in place. I agree with Mike C’s comment. I think the Seagrave cab and chassis is better than before and the rear mount ladder we drove around the test track drove beautifully! A++

Are they going to sell their squad?

I stand corrected not problem. I know they use stainless on the cab and body but I goofed. Yes CUMMINS builds a great engine not just the big block. I’m a stock holder of nearly 20 years so I’m not unhappy to read that. 🙂

Crabby – What do you mean stainless steel on the underside? I’m certainly not arguing you, it’s just a vague statement. The Seagrave cabs and bodies are all stainless. The previous generation Seagrave’s had stainless skins but the rest of the structure was not stainless. Due to all of the stainless, I think they’ll have a very long lifespan especially in the harsh winter climates with corrosive ice melt on the roadways.
Plus, this engine has the Cummins big block!
By the way, this is very nice engine and I’m sure it’ll have a nice long lifespan!

Like it. With stainless steal on the underside, it will last for many years.
